The Lions Club Raises Awareness About Cancer

Pediatric cancer remains a major public health and societal issue in the World.  According to the National Cancer Institute, “childhood cancer is the second leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15.”  In order to prevent and reduce the death toll of cancer, an awareness talk show was organised by The Lions Club on Tuesday, 4th February, 2020.

The grade 6 pupils were all in attendance.  There, they learnt that paediatric cancers are curable and, at worst, controllable if reported early to hospitals or specialised cancer centers.  They also learned how to protect themselves from sunburn, reducing/abstinence from eating of processed meats, excessive red meat and salt intake.
